Broadcasting a World of Whiteness
The article Broadcasting a World of Whiteness was written by Jon Caramanica. This article was published in The New York Times. The article is about people and their opinions on if there is to many white actors in the entertainment industry. The talks abut how there are not many races on some television shows. One of the shows that the article talks about is Girls. Many people thinks that the show should have a lot more diverse cast but others think that the show is very good show that has a lot of hits. I think if the director of a show does not want to hire a person they don't have to. If they are not hiring people because of their race then there will be a problem. If the director wants to go where the money was going to be at and where he will get the most views he has the power to do so.

Gun Fashion
In our journalism class Mr. Petro gave us an article about clothes stores making clothes to conceal guns or other weapons. I think that it is a good and bad idea that they are doing that. It is a good idea because people will less likely get robbed because they robber will not know if they are carrying a weapon or not.If the robber does not know that the person has a weapon they will put themselves in a higher risk of getting injured. Another reason it is a good idea is because a person will always have self defense at all times and they will help decrease the crime rate. It is a bad idea when more and more people figure out that there are clothes that hide you guns it will influence them to buy a gun just because they can have one without being caught. In the U.S. there are about 30 states that allow people to conceal there weapons with a permit. That is a big change because in the 1980s only eight states allowed people to conceal there weapon with a permit. I think many clothing manufacturers will be creating clothes for guns because they might think that a lot of people will buy their cloths if they can hide their guns. I think that all Americans should be allowed to carry gun for self defense. If Americans did not carry guns then more crimes will start up because the people that carry guns illegally will keep attacking others without guns and they will not be able to do anything.

Shayira Farmer senior project
On April 12 senior Shayira Farmer came to our Journalism class and presented her senior project on abortion. For the presentation she needed a powerpoint and a ten page research paper. Her Thesis was Abortion is murder and demeons the value of life. She said she picked the topic abortion because she wants to let people know that there are different things you can do if you do not want your child. These things were birth control, condoms, and adoption. Some of the facts she said was the U.S. has 1.2 million abortions each year. Shayira stated that in 1973 the U.S. legalized abortion. She worked with the youth empower program and stated that millions of women get abortions every day. She said that 50% of the women that got abortions did not think of any other way to not get an abortion. She also told us that abortion is the most common surgical procedure in the U.S. More Teenagers get abortions than older women in the U.S. Some of the reasons people got abortions is because they could not afford to have a child at a young age or because they have to focus on school and might have to take care of the child slack n their work. Shayira thinks that abortion should not be legal but if she was in a situation to have a child at the age she is at she would get an abortion.

Trayvon Martin
17-year-Old Tryavon Martin was killed walking home from the store buying
a drink and skittles. He was killed because he had on a hoodie, which made him
look ‘suspicious’. Organization all over the country and walks was held making
a statement about racial profiling. Chuck Williams stated that, “A white boy
wearing a hoodie he’s a college student, a black boy wearing a hoodie is a
professional thug”. This shows that black males wearing hoodies are being
judged automatically as criminals or suspicious. On Friday when I went downtown
there were so many people down there. At Love Park they had protesting against
hoodies being a sign. There were people wearing hoodies that said on it “Do I
look suspicious?” and having skittle wrappers taped on it. I think its unfair
that they didn’t arrest the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, George
Zimmerman. It is a sign of racism because people always think black males in
hoodies look suspicious but white males don’t. You shouldn’t judge a book by
its cover. It was good and nice that they held protest all over the country for
Trayvon wearing a hoodie when he was killed saying he looked suspicious but
people and children get killed everyday and it isn’t even paid attention to.

2011-2012 NBA MVP Race
In the 2011-2012 NBA season there has been two main players that have been the talk around the league for the MVP trophy. Those people are Lebron James and Kevin Durant. For most of the season Lebron has been leading the league in the MVP running but Durant has always been on his heels. On March 25 the two squared off in what was called a finals preview. Kevin Durant had an outstanding game, he went for 29 points 9 rebounds 8 assists two steals and one block. Lebron on the other hand did not do so well he only had 17 points 7 assists 4 turnovers and 3 rebounds which is well under his season total. Another person that is slowly rising in the ranks of the MVP voting is Tony Parker. In his last 5 games Tony Parker had 20.4 points 8.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game. Kobe Bryant is also trying hard to win MVP. He currently sits at the number three spot and is working harder and harder to get to the number one spot. He just recently experienced a trade that might benefit their team now but it might hurt them in the long run. They traded point guard Derrick Fisher away to the Houston Rockets and they got Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Sessions in the lineup Kobe has scored 25.5 points per game and has shot almost 40% from behind the arc. The player I think should win the MVP title is Kevin Durant because he has been a monster throughout the entire season and he deserves to win the title. He should also win because he is the biggest all-around threat in the NBA this season and his stats prove that.

Photoshopped or not
The blog post Photoshopped or not was published in the New York Times. The arthur of the article is Steve Lohr. The article is about if it is good or bad to modify a celebrities picture so it can make them look better or so they can get more famous. The article stated that Dr. Farid is developing a software tool so they can se on a scale from one to five on how much the picture has been modified. I think that it is good that they alter the pictures of supermodels and famous people because it will help them not get criticized by people and it will make their publicity get higher. If they don't modify the picture then the person that is in the picture will not get as many views on that specific picture. If they modify one and forget to do the other one the person that sees the picture will know that they modify the picture and wont believe anything that they see in the magazine ever again.

For under 30, most births outside of marriage
The article For women under 30 , Most births occur outside of marriage was written by Jason DePARLE and Sabrina Tavernise. The article was published in the New York Times. It talks about how women under 30 are having mot of the children in the United states. They also say that many of the children being born are from mothers outside of marriage. I think that a child being born outside of marriage will develop the same as a child born in marriage. I think this because they will get the right teaching from their parents and they can still know both of their parents if they don't live with each other. I think that a man and women do not need to be married to have a child because they might think they can have a good relationship without being married. The only reason they might not get the right teaching is if the parents are constantly arguing or if they do not get the proper support and nourishment. If a child is born in marriage they won't have nothing that a child born outside of marriage has. The only thing they might have is more experience with both of their parents and they wont have to wait for anything that they need. The article states that about 92% of the college-educated women are married when they give birth. Many of the births that have not been inside of marriages are by couples that lived together. Another reason that births occur out of marriages is because women say that they do not need men to support them.
